Young Adults in Global Mission
Every year the ELCA provides a number of young adults the opportunity to grow in their faith and work hand-in-hand with our global neighbors through our Young Adults in Global Mission (YAGM) program.
Volunteers, who range in age from 21 to 29, take the plunge into a life-changing year-long journey in communities around the world. As they share their gifts of service, they also receive the gifts of their hosts' hospitality, engaging in relationships of mutuality, interdependence, solidarity and trust. To learn more about this program, click here.
No matter where or how they serve, every one of our Young Adults in Global Mission needs your prayers, support and gifts to succeed in their work. It costs only $15,000 to provide one young adult missionary with training, airfare, a small living allowance, health insurance and simple room and board for a year. That’s just $30 a day to invest in empowering young leaders through life-changing global service.
Ann Emilie to serve as YAGM
Ann Emilie Tjorhom, recently graduated from the University of Arizona, and received news that she has been accepted into the YGAM program. She will spend one year in Argentina working alongside local congregations and faith-based agencies. This will be a year of discernment for her as she reflects upon God's future call upon her life.
Ann Emilie's home congregation is Peace Lutheran in Peoria.
